| House News: (old news at the bottom of the page)
11/27/2007 This is the first update. So far I've cleaned out the junk left behind. There as a couch, a china closet, a bunch of miscellaneous items (hangers, clothes, picture frames, port-o-closets, etc.) Most of it was trash and is sitting at the curb waiting for the city to take it (currently 2 days late). Aaron helped me fix the garage. The springs were not attached and many of the pulleys were missing, so it was nearly impossible to open. Now it rolls up and down with ease :o) I am fighting the grime that was on the walls... not sure what it is. It seems a combination of smoke and filth. If you could imagine what a house would be like if someone fried a turkey in the living room, you might be pretty close. HEB's All Purpose Cleaner seems to work best at getting the grime off (thanks Kim!) I installed the washer and dryer. The dryer needed a vent line put in (cut hole in wall & run pipe), and a gas line run (tapped into the hot water heater). Something went wrong when I ran the washer... yes, that's water all over the floor ... glad it was in the garage :o)
Saturday the 24th, Mom, Dad, Dylan, Val, Eric, and Joe all came over and helped me out a bunch! Everyone cleaned a bit with Mom leading the cleaning effort. Eric, Dylan, and Val cut up a broken door to make some shelves (picture below). It's wonderful! Now I have my tools all organized. Joe worked his magic and cheated death playing with electricity. Now 2 rooms have lights that previously were dark at night. And, Dad and I installed a shower. (pictures below)
So nice and neat!
Really wanted a shower, but the tile isn't up yet, so I put up some plastic to protect the walls.
The hole I cut in the wall had to be patched.
And for good measure put primer over the area that needs to be tiled.
Plastic goes back up tomorrow morning for shower time.
Talk about a bachelor's pad! It's all about the lazy-boy :o)
